Sixth Form Learning Contract
As members of the Sixth Form at Whickham School, students are expected to work independently, take responsibility for organising their time and developing effective study habits. Full guidance will be given to support personal and skills development including:
- Academic support
- CEIAG support
- Pastoral support
- Learning support and SEND provision
- Financial support through our bursary system (if applicable)
- Personal development opportunities
- Safeguarding and student welfare
- Study and resource facilities
- Attendance and engagement support
- Health and wellbeing support
- Student voice and representation
In exchange students will commit to upholding the high expectations of Whickham Sixth Form:
- Adhere to all school policies, including: IT user policy; Sixth Form Code of Dress; Attendance and punctuality; Behaviour and attitudes. Sanctions will be imposed for those who persistently fail to meet policy expectations.
- Adhere to the Sixth Form expectations regarding phone usage. Mobile phones and earphones are only permitted in the Sixth Form blocks and must not be used, visible or accessed around the school site.
- Take full advantage of extra-curricular activities.
- Organise part-time employment and leisure in such a way as to ensure adequate time for homework and additional study. Government guidance recommends no more than 12 hours per week if paid employment.
- Fulfil the requirements of the course, including completing classwork, homework and coursework to an acceptable standard, within the timeframes set.
- Sixth form students are expected to take a proactive approach to securing their own work experience placements, including researching opportunities and making contact with potential employers.
- Behave in a mature and socially acceptable manner at all times. This includes within the school site and the local community.
