Alternative Education
As a school we want all students to be the best they can be. Whickham School recognises the need to personalise the curriculum for some pupils. A minority of pupils may struggle to meet the academic and social demands of mainstream education expectations and therefore an alternative provision may be in their best interest.
As a school we will work with the pupil, parents/carers as well as other agencies to ensure a bespoke plan is put in place to support the pupil. This may include academic tutoring, leadership courses or work based learning. A robust quality assurance process takes place to ensure that pupils are safe, attending and making progress.
Pupils will still be Whickham School pupils and supported by the pastoral teams, ensuring pupil wellbeing.
Vocational Opportunities
We are proud to have been chosen to participate in a DfE funded National Pilot Project to develop and measure the impact of vocational opportunities offered in school at Key Stage 4.
